A 20-year-old carpenter, Francis Cudjoe, is currently serving a 50-year prison sentence for defiling a primary two pupil.
The seven year old victim lived with her mother, Hathia Ama Mary, a very close friend of Cudjoe at Abankyi, a suburb of Tarkwa.
Hathia is said to operate a chop bar, and the convict usually runs errands for her.
Cudjoe is reported to have taken advantage of the relationship between them sneaking into the victim’s room to have sex with her.
The victim is said to have informed her teachers about her ordeal when they confronted her.
The teachers then broke the news to her mother, who also reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Tarkwa leading to Cudjoe’s arrest.
Before his sentencing, Cudjoe is said to have knelt and offered an apology to everyone in the courtroom, especially the victim’s mother.
Cudjoe was charged on two counts of defilement, which earned him a 25-year sentence each to be served consecutively.
