The Black Stars have become attractive after winning the Group I sole ticket to represent the continent.

Ghana topped the group and confirmed their place after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the recent bogey team, Comoros, at the Accra Sports Stadium, thanks to Mohammed Kudus’ second-half strike.

Preparations are underway, and the selection of players is a key part of it.

Many players born outside the country are willing to join the team, while those who have not been getting the opportunity recently are targeting a place.

Former skipper of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew, has been recommended by the founder and the bankroller of Techiman-based club Techiman City, Micky Junior, to be included in the team.

“It will be befitting to send Andre Ayew to the World Cup. Ghana must not make the continuous mistake of forcefully retiring players who have served the badge with honour and dignity.

“Andre is only 35 and still wields the energy and leadership to guide this team. He doesn’t necessarily have to start games, but can play a crucial role when his leadership is needed both on and off the pitch.

“I strongly recommend that Coach Otto Addo include our legend in his squad, who is still active, to at least thank him for his immense service to our dear nation,” Micky concluded.

Andre Ayew is clubless and has been inactive since the end of the 2024-25 season. He played 64 minutes in Le Havre’s 3-2 win at Strasbourg on the final day of the French Ligue 1 season on 17th May 2025.
