The Atlas Cub became the second African team to win the FIFA U20 World Cup.
The talented Moroccan team defeated the record winners of the competition 2-0 in the finals of the recently concluded competition, hosted in South America by Chile.
The North Africans were given a hero’s welcome in Casablanca on Tuesday morning, with many fans across the streets joining them in celebration of the record feat.
On Wednesday, the Moroccan government and the Royal Federation of Moroccan football announced a winning bonus of 100,000 USD for each player and the staff who made history in South America.
16 years since Ghana won the U20 World Cup in Egypt against Brazil, Morocco was determined to equal that record after massive investment in youth football and infrastructure in the last decade.
The North Africans will look forward to adding the imminent 2025 AFCON to this success. They have also planned to shock the world of football in 2026 to become the first-ever African nation to win the FIFA World Cup.
