The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has confirmed that 152 referees, including top-tier officials, are under investigation for betting on football matches, in direct violation of federation regulations.
This revelation has sent shockwaves through Turkish football, with the TFF vowing to take disciplinary action against those involved.
Key Findings of the Investigation:
β Out of 571 registered referees overseeing professional competitions, 371 were found to have active betting accounts.
β Among the 152 referees identified, seven are first division referees, and 15 are top-level assistant referees.
β One referee alone reportedly placed bets on 18,227 matches, while 10 referees wagered on more than 10,000 games each, and 42 referees placed bets on over 1,000 matches.

TFF President Ibrahim Haciosmanoglu announced that the federation will launch a comprehensive disciplinary investigation into the matter.
βAs of today, our disciplinary committee has begun the necessary proceedings. Sanctions will be issued soon, and appropriate penalties will follow,β he said.
According to the TFFβs disciplinary code, referees found guilty of betting on football matches can face bans ranging from three months to one year from officiating or football-related activities.
