The National Democratic Congress government has unveiled a detailed framework to operationalize its ambitious 24-Hour Economy initiative through close collaboration with the private sector, aimed at boosting exports, industrial production, and sustainable employment across the country.
Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, disclosed the details of this partnership during a working visit to Nutrifoods Ghana Limited on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, where he toured the company’s Snacks and Culinary factories in Accra.
According to him, the plan is anchored on legislative backing, with a bill currently before Parliament to provide strategic incentives for private investors, particularly in the manufacturing and agro-processing sectors.
The 24-Hour Economy policy, one of the key economic transformation agendas introduced by the government, seeks to stimulate round-the-clock industrial and commercial activity in selected sectors.
The initiative is designed to enhance productivity, expand export capacity, and position Ghana as a competitive industrial hub within the sub-region.
Debrah stressed that the initiative should not be perceived as a political slogan but as a pragmatic economic model to ensure continuous economic activity, job creation, and investment confidence.
“When investors enter a country, they look for enabling environment that offer operational freedom and incentives. Without that, capital flight becomes inevitable. Our goal is to make Ghana the most investor-friendly destination in Africa,” he emphasized.
Providing further insight, Debrah explained that the bill under consideration in Parliament forms part of the government’s Accelerated Export Drive. It will offer comprehensive support to both local and foreign investors, including tax incentives, streamlined regulatory processes, and infrastructure facilitation to encourage 24-hour operations.
“The 24-Hour Economy Bill will not only provide incentives but will also create a level playing field for the private sector to thrive. We want to see manufacturing plants, agro-industries, and export-oriented businesses operating beyond the traditional eight-hour work system,” he said.
This initiative comes against the backdrop of the continuous efforts to diversify its economy and reduce overreliance on imports.
