CAF has announced that Ghanaian referee Daniel Nii Laryea, 36, will officiate the World Cup qualifiers game between Mauritania and Sudan in Nouakchott.

Daniel Laryea is one of the most trusted referees by CAF from the West African Region after being a regular in CAF-organised competitions recently.

All the assistants are from Ghana. Kwasi Brobbey, Addy Roland and Bulu Charles are expected to assist Daniel Laryea.

Initially, FIFA appointed Samuel Uwikunda from Rwanda to officiate the game but they didn’t give him a visa to travel to Kinshasa.

Mauritania will host Sudan on Thursday in Nouakchott in a must-win game. Mauritania in the first two games lost to DR Congo and drew against South Sudan. They cannot afford to drop a point in this fixture.

James Kwasi Appiah’s Sudan is second in Group B after winning four points from two games.
