The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mrs. Marilyn Maame Efua Houadjeto, has hailed the return of Delta Airline to Ghana route as a perfect doorway and a boost for the authority’s “December in GH” initiative.

Speaking at Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday December 2, 2025, the GTA CEO highlighted the significance of the flight, not just as a transportation route but as a vital connection fostering relationships between Africa and its global diaspora.

“We thank Delta for this renewed commitment to Ghana and for affirming, once again, that Ghana is a central hub on the world map. This flight doesn’t just take passengers to Atlanta — it brings families home, it reconnects dreams, and it deepens the ties that bind us across oceans.”

Mrs. Houadjeto also emphasized that this December, Ghana is poised to showcase its rich heritage and warm hospitality through an array of cultural events and initiatives.

She noted that the “December in GH” platform is set to present a kaleidoscope of experiences including what she called “Taste of Culture” which will be celebration of Ghanaian food, art, and music, “Highlife @ 100” to commemorate a century of the beloved Ghanaian genre that embodies the nation’s identity as well as “The Diaspora Summit” which initiative will see gathering of global visionaries dedicated to collaborative growth.

“On our December in GH platform, we are unveiling a line-up that captures the richness of our culture and the spirit of our people: Taste of Culture — a celebration of food, art, rhythm, and Ghanaian expression. Highlife @ 100 — honouring a century of the sound that carried our joy, our poetry, and our identity across generations. The Diaspora Summit — a gathering of visionaries, innovators, and Africans from across the globe, united to build, partner, and shape a greater future.”

Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto used the occasion to assured that the GTA is fully prepared to welcome visitors with open arms, highlighting the importance of safety and respect for all arriving travelers.

“And as we welcome thousands home, we do so with responsibility and preparedness. We are working closely with our security services, airport authorities, and immigration teams to ensure that every visitor”

“Because in Ghana, hospitality is not an industry. It is who we are,” she assured.

“So, to our brothers and sisters in the diaspora, to our friends around the world, and to every Ghanaian here at home: This December, the heartbeat of Africa will echo across the earth — and it will echo from Ghana.”

Concluding her remarks with a statement of national philosophy, the CEO declared, “Ghana is ready, Ghana is steady and Ghana is open to the world.”

In a powerful affirmation of national preparedness, the CEO delivered an unshakable promise to the world: “Ghana is ready. Ready to welcome, ready to host, ready to showcase the very best of who we are.”

The Diaspora Summit: A critical gathering designed to unite visionaries and innovators from across the globe to build, partner, and shape a greater future for Africa.

These major events will be complemented by a nationwide array of concerts, street festivals, cultural parades, culinary showcases, and community experiences, all amplified through the “December in GH” platform.

Addressing concerns regarding the influx of thousands of visitors, Mrs. Houadjeto underscored the country’s commitment to safety and service excellence.

“We are working closely with our security services, airport authorities, and immigration teams to ensure that every visitor—whether first-time traveler or returning child of the soil—feels safe, respected, and embraced from the moment they arrive,” she assured.

“Because in Ghana, hospitality is not an industry. It is who we are.”

She invited the diaspora and global friends to witness the season, asserting that the heartbeat of Africa will echo across the earth, and “it will echo from Ghana.”
