On Friday, 5th December, Ghana were drawn into Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, a lineup widely regarded as one of the toughest in the tournament.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Mohammed Kudus, who played a pivotal role in Ghana’s qualification campaign, emphasised that simply reaching the World Cup is already a statement of intent.

The 25-year-old noted that Ghana’s presence on the global stage shows its ability to compete with the very best, and he is excited about the opportunity to face England, a team full of world-class talent.

Kudus highlighted that Ghana is fully aware of England’s strength. The Three Lions boast a squad stacked with Premier League stars, combining experience and youthful energy.

Players like Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Bukayo Saka represent the attacking depth and creativity that England brings. Kudus admitted that Ghana respects England’s quality but insisted that respect does not mean fear.

Instead, it is about preparing strategically and mentally to match their intensity on the pitch.

At the same time, Kudus expressed confidence in Ghana’s own capabilities. He pointed out that the Black Stars have proven themselves by qualifying and are determined to make a significant impact.

Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, face England on June 23 in Boston, and conclude against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia. Kudus believes these fixtures will test Ghana’s resilience but also provide a platform to showcase their talent and ambition.
