Otto Addo has confirmed that his final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be announced on June 1st 2026.

The competition is scheduled to commence on Thursday, 11th June and end on Sunday, 19th July 2026.

The Black Stars have been drawn in a difficult group alongside European heavyweights, England and Croatia, with minnows from the CONCACAF region completing the group.

Preparations will officially commence in March 2026 when Ghana travels to Germany to face the four-time world champions in Stuttgart.

“This is an amazing opportunity for us to test ourselves against one of the best teams in the world,” Addo said when the friendly against Germany was confirmed.

He continued, “Germany is a good side, and we can’t wait to face them in Stuttgart.” Unquestionably, every opponent heading to the World Cup will welcome the opportunity to test itself against Germany as they are among the favourites, whether they are in form or out of form.

A high-spec friendly against a European heavyweight was expected because Ghana will face two of the highly ranked nations from the continent.

Naming of the final squad will bring speculations, but Otto Addo likely has in mind the players he will travel to the USA, Canada and Mexico with

The Black Stars will face Panama, England and Croatia in Group L of the World Cup, while Germany will meet Finland after Ghana’s game in another friendly before meeting Curacao, Ivory Coast and Ecuador in Group E of the FIFA World Cup.
