Morocco defeated Cameroon 2-0 in the AFCON 2025 quarterfinals, with goals from Brahim Díaz and Ismael Saibari sending the Atlas Lions into the semifinals.

The hosts dominated the match in Rabat, limiting Cameroon to no shots on target and thrilling their home crowd.

Morocco’s victory at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium was a statement of intent from the host nation. Playing under the weight of expectation, the Atlas Lions controlled the tempo from the opening whistle.

Their first breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Ayoub El Kaabi flicked on a corner, allowing Brahim Díaz to react sharply and guide the ball into the net.

The goal was Díaz’s fifth of the tournament, underlining his importance to Morocco’s attacking setup. Cameroon, meanwhile, struggled to impose itself, finding it difficult to break through Morocco’s disciplined defensive lines.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Morocco dictating play and Cameroon increasingly frustrated.

The Indomitable Lions failed to register a single shot on target, a testament to Morocco’s defensive organisation and midfield dominance.

The decisive second goal arrived in the 73rd minute when Ismael Saibari capitalised on another set-piece situation, slotting home after being left unmarked.

That strike effectively sealed the contest, as Cameroon’s attempts to rally were stifled by Morocco’s composure and tactical discipline.

This result not only secured Morocco’s place in the semifinals but also extended their unbeaten run in the competition.

The Atlas Lions are chasing their first Africa Cup of Nations title since 1976, and performances like this suggest they are serious contenders.

The home crowd in Rabat roared with approval, sensing that their team was building momentum at the perfect time.

Morocco will now face the winner of the Algeria versus Nigeria clash, a fixture that promises to test their credentials further.
