Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has intensified his campaign for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position, receiving overwhelming endorsements from party delegates and members across the Northern Region.

His latest tour, spanning key constituencies such as Nanton, Kumbungu, Tolon, Tamale North, Gushegu, Karaga, Sevelegu, Bimbilla, Mion, Tatale-Sanguli, Zabzugu, Kpandai, Wulensi, and Yendi, highlighted the depth of grassroots support for his bid ahead of the January 31, 2026, primary.

Dr. Bawumia described the tour as part of a broader “journey to victory” aimed at restoring the NPP to its “rightful place” and rejuvenating the party’s national standing.

In statements shared via social media, he expressed gratitude for the “mammoth welcome” and unflinching support from delegates, emphasizing that the energy and commitment displayed by party faithful in the Northern Region were both inspiring and motivating for his campaign.

The former Vice President’s engagements began in Kpandai, Wulensi, and Yendi constituencies, where delegates greeted him with enthusiasm and public endorsements of his candidacy.

From there, he proceeded to Nanton, Kumbungu, Tolon, and Tamale North, noting that the level of support mirrored his earlier visits across other parts of the country.

In each constituency, delegates reiterated their confidence in his leadership, chanting slogans and pledging their votes ahead of the NPP’s internal elections.

Dr Bawumia also visited Gushegu, Karaga, and Sevelegu constituencies, further consolidating his appeal in the region.

He praised the dedication of party members who have embraced his vision for both the NPP and the nation, highlighting that the campaign was not solely about winning an election but about rebuilding the party from the grassroots and positioning it as a credible alternative government for 2028.

In Bimbilla, Dr. Bawumia received another large turnout of supporters, with delegates declaring their backing for his continued leadership.

His tour continued to Mion, Tatale-Sanguli, and Zabzugu constituencies, where the reception remained overwhelmingly positive, signaling strong regional momentum for his campaign.

Dr. Bawumia concluded his Northern Region engagements with visits to Salaga North and Salaga South in the Savannah Region, where he reaffirmed his gratitude for the support shown during earlier visits in December 2025.

He used the opportunity to stress the importance of unity within the party, urging members to continue working together to ensure a successful outcome in the upcoming flagbearer election.

Throughout his tour, the former Vice President repeatedly emphasized that his campaign is anchored on service, discipline, and inclusivity.

The wave of endorsements from across the Northern and Savannah Regions not only demonstrates his popularity among NPP delegates but also positions him as a strong contender to lead the party into the 2028 general election.

Dr. Bawumia’s message to supporters remains clear: the NPP’s renaissance and ultimate electoral victory will be achieved through collective effort, grassroots engagement, and unwavering commitment from all members of the party.
