Accra Hearts of Oak made light work of the beleaguered Eleven Wonders on Saturday afternoon with an emphatic 3-0 win.

Mawuli Wayo scored the first goal only eight minutes into the match by skillfully manoeuvring around several defenders before finishing with composure.

In the 62nd minute, Martin Karikari increased the lead by scoring after being the first to react and push the ball into the goal.

Kelvin Asibey later confirmed the victory with a successfully executed penalty kick.

Hearts of Oak approached the match with confidence, having won three out of their last four games, and took charge from the beginning.

Eleven Wonders had difficulty keeping up with the Phobians’ pace and offensive play, as Hearts delivered their best attacking performance of the season.

In defence, they were also strong, achieving a shutout in a commanding overall performance.

They held 53 per cent of possession and had the highest number of shots, totalling 15, with 5 on target and three resulting in goals to earn the three points.

The victory maintains Hearts’ position in the title race and moves them up to second place in the standings, depending on the results of Sunday’s games. Hearst of Oak are five points behind leaders, Medeama SC.

It was the seventh defeat in the last eight games for Eleven Wonders, whose battle against relegation is beginning to be an already lost one.

Eleven Wonders continue to occupy the last position in the standings and are moving closer to returning to the Division One League.
