2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers: roundup on Monday

Fans at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium chanted USA, USA, USA, USA, USA …..

They did that to show how much they are determined to see Ghana qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be played in the USA-CANADA-MEXICO which kicks off exactly 2 years today.

Group I has been very competitive as Ghana moved on top after the hard-fought 4-3 win over the Central African Republic on Monday night. Jordan Ayew scored an important hat trick to determine a great win for Ghana. The win helped them win 9 points from 12.

On Tuesday afternoon at the FNB Stadium in South Africa, 10 men Madagascar drew goalless against Mali. The Eagles of Mali once again disappointed as it has become part and parcel of them. Madagascar’s Louis Demoleon got a red card in the 16th minute but Mali couldn’t capitalise on it for more than 80 minutes of action. Madagascar sits third on the log with 7 points while Mali are 4th with just 5 points.

Comoros are leading the group now with 9 points after beating Chad.
Second half goals from Myziane Maoulida and El Fardou Ben ensured a 2-0 win for Comoros.

With six games left, it is only Chad that you can rule out even though it is likely Comoros and Central African Republic wil give Ghana a tough time.

Mali has always flattered to deceive and they are showing it in the early stages of the qualifiers.

In matchday five, Ghana will host Chad, Comoros will welcome Mali and Madagascar travels to central African Republic.

The World Cup qualifiers will resume in March 2023.
