Fresh polling data from Global InfoAnalytics indicates a strong advantage for Hajia Amina Adam in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary slated for Saturday, February 7, 2026, with the race appearing to tilt decisively in her favour.

The survey places Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Mahama Toure Naser, well ahead of her nearest challenger, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal. Among respondents drawn from the broader constituency, she secured 58 per cent support, compared to 32 per cent for Baba Jamal, signalling a clear edge in voter preference.

The findings point to a growing consolidation around Hajia Amina Adam as the party prepares to select its candidate, suggesting that her appeal extends beyond sympathy to broader electoral confidence.

Global InfoAnalytics also simulated outcomes based on responses from party delegates, factoring in key issues shaping the contest. Under every model tested, Hajia Amina Adam crossed the simple majority required under the NDC’s first-past-the-post primary system, reinforcing her front-runner status.

Analysts say a win for Hajia Amina Adam could influence internal party dynamics and provide valuable insight into how delegate choices align with general voter sentiment, particularly as Ayawaso East is viewed as a bellwether constituency ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The remaining contenders — Constituency Chairman Mohammed Ramme, Dr. Yakubu Azindow, Najib Mohammed Sani, and Salam Daru — trailed significantly, recording 5 per cent, 3 per cent, and 2 per cent respectively.

The primary follows the passing of sitting MP Mahama Naser Toure on January 4, 2026, after a brief illness, creating the vacancy the NDC now seeks to fill.
