A 34-year-old trader who allegedly wore a military uniform to impress a nurse at the 37 Military Hospital has appeared before the Adabraka District Court.
Joseph Baadah admitted he was not a soldier and told the court he wore the uniform to impress a nurse he had fallen in love with.
He has been charged with using military accoutrement without lawful authority and falsely pretending to be a public officer. Baadah pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court granted him bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with sureties. He is expected to reappear on March 24, 2026.
Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector Apeweh Achana told the court that the complainant in the case was WOI Fiamegu Mascow of the Military Police Detachment of the Ghana Armed Forces at Burma Camp.
According to the prosecution, Baadah, who resides at Agbogbloshie in Accra, was spotted on February 8, 2026, at about 6 p.m., wearing a military camouflage uniform and slippers at the Dispensary Gate of the 37 Military Hospital.
He was reportedly without a rank, lanyard, name tag or shoulder badge.
The prosecution said his appearance aroused suspicion, prompting the complainant to confront him.

Subsequent checks established that Baadah was a civilian and not a member of the Ghana Armed Forces as he had purported.
He was arrested and escorted to the Military Police Headquarters at Burma Camp for further interrogation before being handed over to the Nima Divisional Police.
In his caution statement, Baadah admitted the offence and stated that he wore the camouflage uniform to woo a female nurse he had met at the hospital the previous day.
He told investigators he was only trying to impress the nurse by posing as a member of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The prosecution further told the court that Baadah disclosed he had purchased the camouflage uniform from a second-hand clothes dealer, popularly known as “Fose Bale”, at the Kantamanto Market in Accra.
The case has been adjourned to March 24, 2026.
