A man, thought to be a herdsman, has lost his mother, three wives, and five children in a boating accident on the Volta Lake.
A man, thought to be in his late 50s, was moving his family to another neighbourhood where the fatal accident occurred.
According to sources, he travelled on a pontoon, while his mother, three wives, and five children were in a small canoe that overturned.
Nine of the 16 passengers on a small canoe on Volta Lake near Mataiko, located in the East Gonja District of the Savannah Region, were without life vests.
The passengers were en route from Yeji to the local community of Congo when the wooden canoe overturned last Wednesday due to rough weather conditions.
