Akim Oda MP, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has sharply condemned the viral video of machete-brandishing young men engaging in an open fight on the streets of Oda while calling for calm in the Birim Central Municipality.

The video captured some young men brandishing weapons on the streets around the Akim Oda New Market on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

In a Facebook post reacting to the incident, Hon. Acquah expressed his disapproval of the occurrence, saying it has drawn criticism from both local and distant individuals.

“I wish to condemn with no ambiguity, a viral video showing some young men brandishing machetes and engaging in open fight on the streets of Akyem Oda. The incident which has since gone viral, has attracted condemnation from concerned fellows far and near,” he wrote.

He revealed that while individuals who were hurt are being treated at the hospital, the Akim Oda police have stepped in and detained some of the offenders.

“Thankfully the Police has intervened and arrested some of them with the others in critical condition receiving treatment at the Hospital,” he disclosed.

Using the platform, Hon. Acquah called for calm in Oda and the surrounding area and urged the police to look into the reason behind the “unruly” behaviour.

“I urge for calmness so this doesn’t escalate into a broader episode to disturb the peace of Akyem Oda whiles the Police investigates the cause of this unruly behavior which is unknown to the youth of Akyem Oda.” he added.
