Former Vice President and 2028 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid glowing tribute to mothers across Ghana and the world in celebration of Mother’s Day, describing them as the foundation of families and a driving force behind national progress.

In a message shared on Sunday to mark the global celebration of mothers, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged the critical role women, particularly mothers, continue to play in nurturing families, shaping communities and supporting the development of society.

“To the world, you are a mother, but to your family, you are the world,” Dr. Bawumia stated in his Mother’s Day message.

He extended warm wishes to mothers across Ghana and beyond, praising their sacrifices, resilience and commitment to family life despite economic and social challenges.

According to him, mothers remain the silent strength behind the success of many homes and the broader advancement of the country.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mothers across Ghana and beyond. You are the foundation of our homes, the nurturers of our dreams, and the quiet force behind the progress of our nation,” he added.

Mother’s Day is celebrated annually across many parts of the world to honour mothers and appreciate their contributions to families and society.

In Ghana, political leaders, religious groups, institutions and public figures often use the occasion to recognise the sacrifices of women and mothers.

Dr. Bawumia’s message comes at a time when discussions around women empowerment, family welfare and gender inclusion continue to feature prominently in the social and political landscape.

Over the years, the former Vice President has consistently highlighted the importance of women in national development, particularly in areas relating to education, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

His Mother’s Day message has since attracted reactions from supporters and members of the public, many of whom joined in celebrating mothers for their dedication, care and enduring impact on society.
