Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has sparked fresh controversy after publicly defending detained social media commentator WebkidAfrika, who is facing legal action over alleged offensive online attacks targeting fellow musician Stonebwoy and his family.
The blogger, identified in court documents as Abdul Gafaru Sadi, was recently arrested and arraigned before court over allegations of publishing false information and engaging in offensive conduct on social media.
During a TikTok Live session on May 11, 2026, Shatta Wale openly threw his support behind the detained blogger, insisting that WebkidAfrika had merely been defending the Shatta Movement fanbase online.
The controversial musician described the blogger as a “hero” and claimed the arrest had only increased his popularity among supporters of the movement.
“If you like, keep the boy. Punish him. If Webkid returns, he comes back as a hero. He tried, he fought for Shatta Movement. You people have made him a star without even realising it,” Shatta Wale said during the live session.
The dancehall artist further pledged to recruit the blogger into his team after his release from custody.
“If he comes back, I will make him part of my team and he will be working with me. He will be making money. What you’ve done is turn him into a superstar,” he added.
The comments have since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many entertainment followers debating whether Shatta Wale’s support could further deepen tensions between rival fan groups in the music industry.
According to court filings, WebkidAfrika allegedly published several false and provocative social media posts targeting Stonebwoy and members of his family around November 11, 2024.

Prosecutors claim the publications endangered the safety and security of the artiste and his relatives while contributing to heightened tensions online.
The accused is facing charges under Section 76 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775), which deals with the publication of false news.
He has also been charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace under Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
Investigators further allege that the posts formed part of a coordinated online campaign directed at Stonebwoy and his family.
Among the allegations referenced in court were insulting and provocative statements made against the award-winning musician and his relatives on social media platforms.
Shatta Wale, however, dismissed suggestions that some of the claims circulated online were fabricated. During the live session, he argued that media personality Abena Korkor had previously made public comments involving personalities within the entertainment industry.
“Abena Korkor is not foolish to mention names. Some people in the entertainment industry took advantage of her,” he stated.
The arrest of WebkidAfrika has become one of the latest flashpoints in the long-running tensions between supporters of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, whose rivalry over the years has repeatedly dominated conversations within the entertainment industry.
The relationship between the two dancehall stars has remained tense since several public confrontations, including the infamous incident at the 2019 Ghana Music Awards which led to the annulment of the Artiste of the Year category after chaos erupted on stage.
WebkidAfrika was arrested on May 7, 2026, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
