Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has launched a pioneering initiative aimed at expanding sports development across Ghana, extending beyond football.

Named the All Regional Games, this initiative spans all 16 regions of Ghana and focuses on uncovering talents in nine diverse sports disciplines.

These disciplines encompass football, athletics, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, boxing, e-sports, and arm-wrestling, with a particular emphasis on para-sports.

The All Regional Games will see each region conducting trials to identify top athletes who will then compete against their counterparts from other regions.

Gyan, speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show, articulated his ambitious vision for sports development in Ghana, stating, “I want to help develop sports in Ghana, not just confined to football but beyond football.” He emphasized his active role in shaping the initiative, ensuring its comprehensive coverage and impact.

The initiative marks a significant step by Gyan, who holds the record as Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals, towards nurturing talent and cultivating a vibrant sports culture throughout the country.

His commitment underscores a broader mission to elevate Ghanaian sports across various disciplines, fostering opportunities for athletes to excel and represent their regions on a national stage.
