Tunisia has officially appointed French tactician Hervé Renard as the new head coach of the national team, marking a significant step in their preparations for crucial games against Japan and the Netherlands at the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Renard, renowned for his success with African teams, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record, having previously guided Zambia and Ivory Coast to Africa Cup of Nations glory.

Tunisia embarrassingly lost 5-1 in their opening game against Sweden, forcing the Tunisian Football Federation to sack head coach Sabri Lamouchi.

Herve Renard, 57, after agreeing with the Tunisian FA, accepted the offer to lead the North Africans. Known for his disciplined approach and ability to instil resilience in his squads, Renard is expected to blend Tunisia’s technical flair with a more structured game plan.

The Tunisian Football Federation expressed confidence that Renard’s leadership and tactical acumen will revitalise the Carthage Eagles.
