The New Jerusalem Chapel founder, Prophet J.Y. Adu, has disclosed that gospel musician Yaw Sarpong stopped attending his church after he was miraculously healed in 2012.
The prophet recounted how Sarpong was brought to his church while encountering a severe illness but shortly experienced divine healing and recovery.
However, after the healing, Sarpong ceased attending the New Jerusalem Chapel for an extended period and only returned after receiving death prophecies from other pastors.
Speaking with Fiifi Pratt on Kingdom FM, monitored by GhanaWeb, Prophet Adu expressed his disappointment over Yaw Sarpong’s departure following the miraculous healing.
“I healed Yaw Sarpong in 2012/2013, and he came to thank God, but afterwards, he did not attend my church. He visited other pastors in Accra. I didn’t know Yaw until he came for healing at my church,” he explained in Twi. “He frequented various churches until he received death prophecies, which led to his return. His absence from my church hurt me a lot,” he added.
Prophet Adu mentioned that Yaw Sarpong’s absence had deeply affected him, despite clarifying that he continues to be under his spiritual care due to ongoing health challenges believed to have a spiritual dimension.
Yaw Sarpong has been dealing with health issues related to a stroke, and his recovery is being closely monitored to facilitate his return to ministry.
