Adidja Azim Palmer, better known as Vybz Kartel is a Jamaican DJ, Dancehall and Raggae artist who is famous for his role in Jamaican music.
Vybz Kartel, and his three co-defendants have been behind bars in a Jamaican prison since their arrests in 2011, and were convicted in 2014 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, whose body was never found.
The quartert have been freed by the Jamaica Court of Appeal after spending 11 years behind bars.
Ghanaian dancehall maestro, Stonebwoy, on X celebrated the news to free Vybz Kartel by hinting at bringing him to Ghana to perform in his annual Bhim Concert.
Stonebwoy wrote, “Adidja Azim Palmer. Road Ago Bun Up. Free at Last. Bhimfestival ?????”
The annual Bhim festival seeks to strengthen African music ties with the Caribbean region among other reasons.
The 2023 edition which was the 5th Bhim Concert as it saw Stonebwoy sell out the Accra Sports Stadium, with over 35,000 people in attendance. The 6th edition is set to be as hot as the summer’s eve with probably Vybz Kartel performing.
