Ghana heard good news as one of the darling boys at the Paris Olympic Games finished second in Heat 1 to progress to the semi-finals of the 100 meters.

Azamati finished second with 10.08 seconds to Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson who run 10.00 seconds.

Cuban Reynaldo Espinoza finished 3rd with 10.11 second with the three qualifying from the Heat.

There was a controversy in that heat with Great Britain’s Jeremiah Azu, disqualified for a false start.

Azamati on Sunday will be in Lane 3, next to American super sprinter, Noah Lyles who will be in L4 in the first 100m semi-final on Sunday at 06: 05pm.

Abdul Rasheed Saminu in Heat 7 finished third place, with a time of 10.06 seconds, behind Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi and reigning Olympic champion, Marcell Jacobs of Italy.

Abdul-Rasheed Saminu will be in Lane 8, next to Fred Kerley of USA in L7 in the third 100m semi-final on Sunday from 6.pm

It is the first time the Ghanaian duo have reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games.
