Tension is mounting in Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, following a violent clash between workers at the Akim Oda Timber Market and staff of the Forestry Commission.

Reports indicate that, the confrontation has tragically resulted in the death of one person, intensifying the unrest in the area.

In response to the situation, staff of the Akim Oda Forestry Commission have reportedly vacated their office after receiving information that the aggrieved timber market workers were gathering in large numbers.

The cause of the clash remains unclear, but personnel from the Akim Oda Divisional Police Command have been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
