Ministry of Sports has directed the Ghana Football Association to request CAF to Inspect Legon Stadium & Accra Sports Stadium for possible approval for Black Stars game against Sudan next month.
Matchday 1 and 2 of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers ended in tears for Ghana as the Black Stars lost in Kumasi to Angola and drew with the lowly Niger 1-1 in Morocco.
That was not enough at all, CAF compounded Ghana’s woes by declaring that none of the numerous venues across the country meets their standard and hence Ghana must look outside the country for a place for Sudan’s clash.
A letter has been released by the Sports Ministry ordering the GFA to make a plea to CAF to inspect the newly constructed University of Ghana Sports Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium for approval.
The Ministry thinks one of these two venues will definitely meet CAF’s required standard.
Ghana will play Sudan home and away in October for Day 3 and 4 of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers. Those games will define both Ghana and Sudan’s chances of progressing to the main tournament.
Angola sits first on the log with 6 points, Sudan is second with 3 points, Ghana is third with 1 point with Niger langusihing at the bottom with 1 point.
