Raja Casablanca head coach Rusmir Cviko has described his team’s 2-2 draw with FC Samartex in the CAF Champions League as a significant victory, despite not securing the win.
The Moroccan side displayed commendable resilience during the match, which took place on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The first-leg clash was part of the second round of the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.
While the Ghana Premier League champions, FC Samartex, gave a strong performance, Cviko’s team managed to hold them to a draw.
In his post-match remarks, Coach Cviko expressed his dissatisfaction with the playing conditions, specifically criticizing the pitch, but praised his team for the result.
“I’m not happy. I’m happy because we didn’t lose the game, but normally, we should have won.
The field was in such poor condition that it was nearly impossible to play, and because of that, I say congratulations to my team. That’s a big win for us,” Cviko stated.
Looking ahead to the second-leg match in Morocco, Cviko expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a victory at home and advance to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
