New season, new format, new players and new managers but the same excitement UCL has produced over the years was witnessed by the world on Tuesday night across the lenght and breath of Europe.

Aston villa after a 41-year absence returned to the top tier of European football with an emphatic 3-0 win against Bern-based BSC Young Boys. Tielemans, Onana and Ramsey each scored to get the League Phase underway for Unai Emery’s side.

In Vincent Kompany’s first ever game as a manager in the UCL, the former Hamburg SV defender’s Bayern Munich pulverised Croatian side Dinamo Zaghreb 9-2. Harry Kane scored four, Micheal Oliseh scored a brace as Goretzka, Sane and Guerreiro all scoring a goal each.

Defending champions Real Madrid continued their impressive performance in second halves of UCL. Mbappe opened his Champions League account for Madrid with just a minute played in the second half. Denis Undav scored in the 68th minute to stun the Bernabeau to make the scoreline 1-1. Toni Rudiger and Endryk scored in the 83rd and 95th minutes respectively to ensure a 3-1 win for the Spanish giants.
