Nigeria: Star striker Victor Osimhem misses latest squad for 2025 AFCON Qualifiers

Augustine Eguavon is set to lead Nigeria once again in this International break after he he led Nigeria to smash Benin 3-0 in Uyo at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in matchday 1 of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and drew goalless in Kigali against Rwanda in matchday 2.

The quick fire format of the qualifiers continues with Nigeria set to face Libya home and away.

Temporary head coach Augustin Eguavon has revealed his 23-man-squad for October’s games with all the stars aligned except Osimhen.

The biggest news around the team is the absence of Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen who misses due to muscle injury. The striker has missed the club’s last two games and Eguavon decided to let him have time to recover.

The squad is headed by Atalanta’s super forward, Ademola Lookman, and red hot Bayer Leverkusen’s striker, Victor Okoh Boniface.

Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, defenders William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina and Calvin Bassey are all included.

In midfield, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika are all part of the team.
