The Confederation of African Football’s Disciplinary Committee has fined Algerian side USM Alger after they failed to honour the 2023-24 semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup aginst Berkane of Morocco.

Why USM didn’t honour the semi-finals?

USM Alger refused to take to the pitch in Morocco because the strip the hosts were wearing showed a map of the country which included the disputed territory of Western Sahara.

Algeria, which cut off diplomatic ties with its North African brothers in 2021, saw the extended map as a political provocation.

How much is USM paying?

CAF’s Disciplinary Committee has fined USM Alger USD $40,000.

 

Al Ahly to pay $30,00 for fans’ laser use against TP Mazembe

Egyptian giants Al Ahly has also been fined USD $15,000 by CAF’s Disciplinary Committee because their Fans used lasers on TP Mazembe team during the Champions League semi-final second leg in Cairo.

The Red Devils afrter Violating marketing rules in the game against ES Tunis will pay USD $15,000 to CAF making it a total USD $30,000.
