UG and KNUST ranked 10th and 21st in the Top 30 Universities Across Africa

According to UniRank 2024, University of Ghana is the 10th best University on the African continent and number in Ghana.

KNUST is the 21st best ranked University in Africa and 2nd in Ghana. Established in 1952, the kumasi-based public University is known for being one of the top Science universities in Africa.

University of Cape Town is the best ranked University in the whole of Africa according to UniRank 2024. University of Cape Town is globally renowned for its academic excellence and commitment to social change and development, UCT is an inclusive, research-intensive top-tier institution and UniRank ranks it as the best on the continent.

The Top 6 are all universities in South Africa. It simply shows the level education has reached in South Africa. University of Pretoria, Witwatersrand, Stellenbosch and Johannesburg conclude the top 6.

Kenya’s University of Nairobi comes in 7th place as North-West University in South Africa is ranked 8th.

The American University in Cairo is 9th while University of Ghana concludes the Top 10.

University of Lagos is the top ranked University from Nigeria and is ranked 24.

The criteria for the rankings is based on; measures of wealth, excellence in research, selective admissions, and alumni success.

Rankings may also consider various combinations of measures of specialization expertise, student options, award numbers, internationalization, graduate employment, industrial linkage, historical reputation and other criteria
