Algeria smashed Togo 5-1 in Annaba at the Stade 19 Mai 1956. Togo took a shock lead via Luzern forward Thibault Klidje’s 11th minute strike. Algeria hit back in the 29th minute through Said Benrahma.

In the second half, Benrahma scored his second through the spot kick with Houssem Aouar, Amine Gouiri and Mohamed Amoura all scoring to give Algeria an empahatic victory over the West African side.

Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium drew goalless against Sudan. The draw puts Ghana in a very poor position as Monday’s return encounter in Libya is a must win for the Black Stars.

Khama Billiat’s 34th minute penalty helped Zimbabwe secured a narrow 1-0 win over Namibia at away.

FAR Rabat’s forward Tumisang Orebonye’s second minute strike ensured a 1-0 away win for Botswana against Cape Verde.

Clement Mzize’s second half own goal condemned Tanzania to a 1-0 defeat in Kinshasa against DR Congo.

Dango Ouattara’s brace helped Burkina Faso trashed Burundi 4-1. Sasha Banse and Issoufou Dayo were also on the score sheet.
