Emmanuel Agyeman Badu, former Black Stars midfielder was asked by Joseph Osei Bonsu, the “Sports President” on AP Sports, “how should Ghanaians lower their expectations on the Black Stars?”.
Agyeman Badu said, “We have to limit the way we wax lyrical about the team.
“I’m one of the Ghanaians that have huge expectations on the team because of the level of our players but i have stopped that now”, Badu added.
Ghana has a lot of quality players in the top 5 leagues in Europe; Thomas Partey (Arsenal), Mohammed Kudus (West Ham), Mohammed Salisu (Monaco), Inaki Williams (Athletic Bilbao), Antoine Semenyo (Bournemouth), Jordan Ayew ( Leicester City), Fatawu Issahaku (Leicester City), Alidu Seidu (Rennes) and Tariq Lamptey (Brighton & Hove Albion) among so many talented players but have struggled after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Any team with these players’ fans will expect a lot from them. Agyeman Badu is not wrong for always expecting something huge from the team. Ghanaians have been watching their stars on TV every weekend in the European top leagues so they expect Ghana to give out a good performance.
“I used to have high hopes but i will stop. You can’t blame the fans cuz they see them on TV every weekend playing for the top teams in Europe in competitive games”, Emmanuel Agyeman Badu concluded.
Ghanaians indeed must lower their expectations because things have been so poor and unbelievable in the last 18 monts.
Ghana cannot afford to miss a win on matchday 4 against Sudan in Libya. The pressure is mounting as Ghana’s chances to qualify to Morocco is little by little becoming so slim.
