The National Sports Authority of Ghana has revealed that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi is ready to host football matches after it was closed down for maintenance.
Ahead of the crucial Sudan 2025 AFCON qualifiers, CAF ordered Ghana to look elsewhere to host the clash becasue none of the venues in the country meet the standard required by the continent’s football headquaters.
Ghana played against Sudan in Accara after the venue was been repaired and met CAF’s standard.
The Baba Yara Venue in Kumasi has been declared ready by NSA for use according to Patience Adams, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the National Sports Authority (NSA) in Kumasi.
“All work at the Baba Yara Stadium is completed and ready to host any football events, however, we are awaiting clearance from our masters in Accra before the facility can be opened,” Adams stated in an interview with Akoma FM.
Adams said everything is in a brilliant state but they are waiting for the NSA in Accra to give them the green light to open the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
Main tenants of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Asante Kotoko, has adopted the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium as their home and it remains unknown if the Porcupine Warriors will return to Kumasi immediately for the rest of the season.
