Bibiani Gold Stars are horrible in away games but Hearts of Oak must be wary of the threat posed by Frimpong Manso’s side.

In their last 24 away games in the Ghana Premier League, spanning from last season, the Minners have won only one, drawn 11 and lost 12. It is just a victory that they have recorded and it was against Accra Hearts of Oak which happened in Week 24 of the 2023-24 season.

Imagine Gold Stars been able to turn up in away games, they would have been considered the main challengers to Asante Kotoko, Samartex amd Medeama.

Since Frimpong Mmaso took over from Micheal Osei as the head coach, the former Tano Bofoakwa gaffer has exceeded expectations after guiding the club to enjoy stability and consistency. He commenced his reign at Gold Stars with a 3-0 smashing of eventual winners of the GPL, Samartex, in December 2023 in Week 17 of the 2023-24 season.

12 home wins, 1 draw in the next 13 home games simply shows how amazing Gold Stars are at home.

“I am not thinking about the title but when any opportunity arises for us to lift it, we will grab it”, Frimpong Manso said after the 2-0 win over Aduana Stars at the Dun’s Park in Week 7.

For Bibiani Gold Stars to think about the title, they must start repeating the 1-0 success at Accra Hearts of Oak last season which is surprisingly Frimpong Manso’s only away win for the club since he joined in December 2023.

Great performances at home has always been the main reason why clubs have been winning the GPL recently with Medeama and Samartex’s successes perfect examples.

However, winning away from home can easily make you real contenders. If Bibiani Gold Stars are able to pick 5 wins in away games and secure 4 draws, they can be a real genuine title contenders because everything shows that they will deliver at home.

The visit to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon to face the inconsistent Hearts of Oak can be a start to winning away for Bibiani Gold Stars.

Still sitting on top of the table ahead of Week 8, can Frimpong Manso and his charges keep their position?

Accra Hearts of Oak must be wary of the threat posed by the Minners especially with veterans like Frank Amakwaah, Atta Kumi, Vincent Atinga and exciting talents like Kelvin Oppong, William Dankyi and Bright Boakye Kyereh all putting up Grade-A performances.
