The vsitors took the lead through Malik Thiaw in the 12th minute. Vinicius Jnr’s 23rd minute penalty restored parity for Real Madrid. Former Los Blancos striker Alvaro Morata put Milan ahead in the 39th minute after firing a rebound into the left post. Leao fed Reijnders and the Dutch international calmly slotted the ball into the bottom left of the post to make it 3-1 in favour of AC Milan.
