Jerry Afriyie won Gold medal in the 13th All-African Games with Ghana. He finished as the top scorer of the WAFU ZONE B U-20 Championship held in Togo where Ghana lost 2-1 in the finals against bitter rivals Nigeria. He scored 5 goals and also was voted for as the Best Player of the Tournament.
The Thought FC’s striker is highly rated after proving to be ahead of most of his peers. In front of goal, Jerry Afriyie is so effective and he plays well above his age.
Under the tutelage of Ghana’s U20 head coach, Desmond Offei, Jerry Afriyie has developed into a great striker with many calling for him to be included in the Black Stars, although he is very very young.
Ghana’s U20 head coach has advised Jerry to take the next step in his career after showing so much glimpses.
“His future looks very, very bright, and it’s up to him to take the next step, hopefully to Europe, to join a good team where he can play, and hopefully get an opportunity with the Black Stars.
Desmond Offei has suggested a move to Europe for the youngster because he sees him thriving in a very good environment.
“With Jerry, we’re really happy because he’s a very hungry lad, down to earth, and you know, he’s a goal scorer”, Desmond concluded.
Desmond Offei knows Jerry Afriyie inside out because he has been the main man who has given him the opportunity to shine. The U20 head coach is optimistic Jerry Afriyie will blow.
