Amid the ongoing legal battle between actress Martha Ankomah and comedian LilWin, media personality and entertainment pundit Ola Michael has accused movie director Frank Garbin of instigating the controversy.

In February 2024, LilWin was sued by Martha Ankomah for defamation following his disparaging remarks about her in a viral video.

However, speaking on Neat FM on November 6, 2024, Ola Michael placed the blame on Frank Garbin for escalating the situation.

“What Kojo (LilWin) did wasn’t sensible, but the person who went to tell Kojo – Frank Garbin – is the cause of the problem,” Ola Michael stated.

He criticized Garbin for not handling the matter with maturity.

“He shouldn’t have told him; he should have used maturity to discuss it with Kojo.”

Ola Michael explained that the controversy began when LilWin recommended Martha Ankomah to Garbin, noting that although she wasn’t frequently seen in Kumawood movies, she was a good actress.

According to Michael, Garbin responded by saying that Ankomah was disrespectful and had always looked down on Kumawood, which was why they couldn’t feature her in their movies.

“There’s proof that she said it in an interview with Happy FM. Meanwhile, whatever they were saying, she didn’t mention Kumawood in the statement,” Michael added.

He further accused Garbin of lying about the situation, which led to the escalation of the issue.

“This issue escalated because Frank Garbin lied about the whole situation, so LilWin was supposed to apologize to Martha instantly, but he didn’t,” Michael concluded.

How it started

Actress Martha Ankomah filed a defamation lawsuit against Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, known as LilWin, following his disparaging remarks about her in a viral video.

Ankomah claims that LilWin’s statements damaged her reputation and that of the textile brand GTP.

She is seeking GH¢5 million in damages, compensatory and aggravated damages, an apology, a retraction, and an injunction against further defamatory statements.

The lawsuit stems from LilWin’s response to Ankomah’s comments on Accra FM, where she expressed her interest in collaborating with Kumawood actors because of their storylines.

In a video response, LilWin launched a barrage of insults against the actress, leading to the defamation suit.
