It has been a poor run for Yanga in the Tanzanian Ligi Kuu Bara after two consecutive home defeats against Azam and Tabora United.
Since the last defeat on 7th November, Argentine head coach Angel Gondi has been under immense pressure.
Young Africans did not taste a single defeat in their last 28 games in all competitions spanning from last season. All was rosy until recently. The hierarchy of the club refused to exercise patience and fired Gamondi.
The head coach helped them bounce back to the Money Zone of the CAF Champions League for the first time in over two decades and reached the quarter-finals, losing on penalties to Sundowns.
The club won the 2023-24 league title under Gamondi’s leadership. It remains unknown who will replace the head coach.
Young Africans currently sit in second place behind rivals Simba with just 1 point after winning 24 points from 10 games.
“The management of Young Africans Sports Club would like to thank the coaches for their contribution to our club and wishes them all the best in their new roles.” the club statement read.
