Ghana international and Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has successfully undergone surgery after sustaining an injury during the Black Stars’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola.

The injury, which forced him off in the first half, ruled him out of Ghana’s final Group F game against Niger.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) previously confirmed that Issahaku and Jordan Ayew both suffered injuries during the Angola match.

While Ayew managed to finish the game, MRI scans revealed a serious knee issue, and Issahaku required immediate attention and surgery upon his return to England.

In a post on Instagram, Issahaku reassured fans of his recovery process:

“All glory be to Almighty Allah. My surgery was successful, and I just want to tell you that I am okay. I want to thank everyone for your best wishes.”

The 20-year-old winger’s successful surgery marks a positive step towards his rehabilitation, with fans and stakeholders hopeful for his swift return to action.

Issahaku has been a pivotal player for both club and country, and his absence will be felt as Leicester City and the Black Stars continue their respective campaigns.
