Monday Night Football was in Newcastle, with The Magpies squaring off against the struggling Westham United.
Ahead of the game, Newcastle United fans honoured their star striker Alexander Isak with a tifo and banner behind each goal at St. James’ Park.
Alexander Isak has become a cult hero since joining the Premier Ĺeague club from Real Sociedad in 2022 summer in a deal worth €70m.
Isak’s contract runs until 2028 summer. Arsenal have made it clear that they are ready to snatch the deadly forward from Newcastle forcing the Magpies to find a way to extend the deal. The striker is not much interested in extending his deal per multiple sources, so the fans have decided to play their role in convincing him.
Newcastle United supporters also held up the Eritrean flag, honouring the country where his parents are from, in a bid to send a message to the parents to help their son remain.
Alexander Isak, 25, was born to Eritrean parents and raised in Solna Municipality, in central Stockholm County, Sweden.
Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has revealed that the forward’s contract situation is complicated and urged him to focus on football rather. Many thought his words were a bit harsh on the red-hot Swedish. The entire Toon Army awaits Isak’s renewal.
Newcastle United lost 2-0 on Monday night at home to West Ham United with Thomas Soucek and Wan Bissaka the scorers.
