Bishop Joseph Osei Bonsu fell for Nana Ama on Facebook when the lady initiated contact with him.

The Facebook account happened to be a fake account which had been created by an unemployed man identified as Michael Arthur, who led the operation of an online fraud syndicate and used the name Nana Ama to present himself as a woman.

Michael then recruited an accomplice, Martha Agblega, a trader, to impersonate ‘Nana Ama’ to lure the Bishop.

Martha successfully established rapport with the Bishop over time.

Together with other accomplices, Richard and Tanko (both currently at large) convinced the Bishop to part with Gh¢ 2.5 million under the pretext of securing him an acre of land.

Through Police intelligence operations, Arthur and Agblega were arrested from their hideout at Breman Assikuma in the Central Region.

Investigations revealed that the accused had used part of the defrauded funds to acquire vehicles and other properties for their personal use.
