Baba Rahman emphatically made it clear that he was not ready to represent Ghana again after he was booed at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
The former Asante Kotoko left back was brokenhearted and kissed the national team goodbye. The PAOK defender has since not returned to the team and is still not ready.
In an interview with BBC Sport Africa, Baba Rahman disclosed why he temporarily stepped away from the Ghana national team to focus on his fitness and recovery from continuous injuries.
“It’s a personal decision to take a break to concentrate on my fitness because I’ve not had a great time with injuries,” Rahman explained. “When I joined PAOK last year, I thought it was wise to stay away a bit from international football to get my fitness back.”
“Fans are asking me all the time to come back to play for Ghana, but I think I need to take care of my health before everything right now,”, continued Baba.
Eight of the players Otto Addo selected for November’s international break decided to withdraw due to injuries. 6 new were added to make the list 23.
Ghana still has a chance to qualify for Morocco 2025 but it is so slim as they must beat Angola in Luanda at all costs on Friday night.
