The Ghana Police Service has made a major breakthrough in its investigation into the high-profile Adabraka gold robbery, arresting three key suspects believed to be the masterminds behind the daring heist.
The operation, conducted in Ashaiman, marks a continuation of months-long intelligence-led surveillance targeting organized criminal networks operating in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspects, identified as Nashiru Abubakari, known in criminal circles as “Soldier,” Fatao Mohammed, alias “Motorway,” and a third individual using the moniker “50Cent,” were apprehended on Monday, January 19, 2026.
Police sources describe the arrests as the culmination of meticulous planning, covert monitoring, and tactical interventions designed to dismantle the gang responsible for violent robberies in the city.
These latest arrests bring to seven the number of individuals currently in police custody in connection with the Adabraka gold heist.
Four other suspects were previously apprehended as part of earlier phases of the investigation.
Authorities are now intensifying efforts to locate and arrest additional accomplices believed to have played supporting roles in the robbery.
The Adabraka gold robbery, which shocked residents and heightened concerns about urban crime, has been a major focus for the Ghana Police Service’s Special Operations Unit (SOA).
Following the incident, police launched a series of covert operations, relying heavily on intelligence gathering, surveillance, and community cooperation to track the perpetrators and recover stolen property.
Security officials indicate that efforts to retrieve exhibits linked to the robbery are ongoing.
The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and the fight against organized crime.
In a statement, authorities urged citizens to continue providing credible information that could aid law enforcement in preventing future criminal activities.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody and will be processed for court in accordance with legal procedures.
