Matchday 1 of the 2025 AFCON qualfiers continued on Friday with Morocco thrashing Gabon 4-1. Hakim Ziyech scored twice with Brahim Diaz and El Kaabi each scoring for the Atlas Lions.

Senegal drew 1-1 at home against Burkina Faso. Sadio Mane in the 16th minute scored to put Senegal ahead. Ousseni Bouda scored in the 96th minute to steal a point for the Stallions of Burkina Faso.

Tom Saintfiet started his reign as the new Mali head coach with a fixture against Mozambique. Catamo gave the away side a lead in the first half with Bissouma equalising in the second half to ensure a 1-1 draw for the Eagles.

Jean Phillipe Krasso scored a brace in the second half for Ivory Coast to secure a 2-0 win for Zambia.

Cape Verde lost 3-0 in Egypt. Ramy Rabia, Omar Marmoush and Ibrahim Adel scored for the Phroahs.

Togo in Lome shared the spoils with Liberia. keven Denkey’s 78th minute strike was canceled by Williams Gibson’s goal in the injury time.

Bafana Bafana in Pretoria at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium drew 2-2 with Uganda. Lyle Foster and Mbatha scored for South Africa as Omedi and Mata were on the scoresheet for the Cranes of Uganda.

Sierra Leone dissapointinly drew 0-0 against the lowly Chad.

Edo Kayembe’s goal in the first half helped DR Congo win 1-0 against Guinea.

Kenya played a goaless draw with Zimbabwe in Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Nairobi.
