The sophomore season of the African Football League (AFL) is still yet to be decided in terms of date and teams to compete.

The maiden edition on 2023 was won by Mamelodi Sundowns as it was more than exciting. Many did not agree with the criteria teams were selected to compete but you cannot take away the excitement.

The second edition per the president of CAF is still part of the plans although the date for it is a bit difficult to fix.

Speaking to the press in Cote d’Ivoire at the CAF Coaches Symposium, the president of Confederation of African Football said, “The African Football League (AFL) in the first season was a huge success. We can be proud of the work and money that went in it.”

Patrice Motsepe continued; “The second season will take place only that the schedules are tight at the moment particularly with the FIFA Club World Cup tournament to take place, so they are still working around the clock”.

The rebranded FIFA Club World Cup to be played in the USA in the summer of 2025 has made all football calanders across the globe very chaotic. UEFA and many footballers associations’ have complained bitterly about the new competition but FIFA expects it to take place next year.
