The controversial leader of the Heaven Way Champion Ministry, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Mama Pat or “Nana Agradaa,” has formally petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, seeking the arrest and prosecution of political activist Hopeson Adorye over what she describes as incitement to violence against her.
In a strongly-worded letter dated May 26, 2025, Mama Pat accused Adorye of making dangerous comments during a live appearance on TV XYZ on May 14, 2025.
According to her petition, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator allegedly encouraged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to physically attack her if they saw her in public.
Agradaa alleges that the host of the programme immediately sensed the gravity of the statement and urged Adorye to withdraw it.
However, she claims that Hopeson Adorye remained defiant and refused to retract his comment, thereby intensifying her fears.
The self-styled evangelist, who has often been at the center of public controversy due to her past as a traditional priestess and her transition to Christianity, said the incident has left her deeply unsettled.
In her petition, she wrote:
“His statement has put me in a state of fear and panic,” and likened the alleged incitement to prior violent incidents such as the assassination of journalist Ahmed Suale and the unrest at the Obuasi Mines.
She added, “I am a citizen of Ghana and my fellow citizen should not be seen to be publicly inciting my destruction,” calling on the police to treat the matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
She urged the CID to send a clear message by prosecuting individuals who make inflammatory public statements that threaten the lives and safety of fellow citizens.
“It is high time the Ghana Police set an example on some of these unreasonable comments which have the propensity to cause death and danger to well-meaning citizens of this country,” she stated.
At the time of filing this report, neither Hopeson Adorye nor the CID had issued an official response to the petition.
This is not the first time Mama Pat has found herself entangled in high-profile public disputes.
Her ministry and past dealings have often drawn scrutiny, but she remains a prominent and polarizing figure in Ghana’s religious and social landscape.
