Patricia Asiedua, the founder and leader of the Heaven Way Champions Ministry, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Accra Circuit Court on July 3, 2025. She was found guilty of two counts of defrauding under false pretences and one count of charlatanic marketing in connection with a 2022 church service.
Following the punishment, Nana Agradaa and her counsel filed an appeal with the Amasaman High Court, seeking to reverse the Circuit Court ruling. Her defense team claimed that the lower court judge was biased and issued an excessive sentence.
Justice Oppong-Twumasi found that the Circuit Court judge decided the case based on Nana Agradaa’s personality, not the crimes she was accused of committing.
He granted her appeal and reduced her sentence to one year, prompting her lawyer to announce that she will be released on March 3, 2026.
As stated by her lawyer, the controversial televangelist secured her freedom on March 3, with a video showing her and her husband, Angel Asiamah, at their home.
