Al Ahly: Egyptian giants part ways with French forward Anthony Modeste

Standing 6ft 1 inch, Anthony Modeste, 36, has been released by Al Ahly Cairo upon the expiration of his 1 year contract.

Born in Cannes in france, the towering striker joined the Red Devils after parting ways with Borussia Dortmund in 2023.

In an official statement released by the Cairo-based Al Ahly, the club confirmed the strikers departure.

“we appreciation Modeste’s commitment, effort and high spirit with his teammates throughout his presence, which contributed to winning three championships.

“Modeste was one of the players who always adhered to the club’s rules and the instructions of the technical management.

“He sought to cooperate with his teammates in all the matches he participated in to achieve the team’s interest. The club wishes Modeste success in his next journey.”

The former 1899 Hoffenheim, Angers, Bordeaux, Bastia and Blackburn Rover’s player scored six goals and provided four assists in 31 games for Al Ahly.

Modeste had won only the Germany 2.Bundesliga title with Koln in the 2018-19 season but in a space of a season, the striker won the CAF Champions League title, the Egypt Cup, the Egypt Super Cup and Club World Cup bronze medal with the the Egyptians.
