Richmond Lamptey was in the form of his life in the first half of the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League Season as he dazzled in almost all Asante Kotoko matches.

Kotoko’s skipper subsequently earned a spot in Chris Houghton’s final squad for Ghana for the 2023 AFCON but did not make a single appearance.

Lamptey joined Asante Kotoko from Inter Allies in 2021 spending three years with the Porcupine Warriors.

The 27-year-old former WAFA star midfielder has signed a 2-year deal with Rwandan side Armee Patriotique Rwandaise Football Club (APR FC), per Nana Agyeman of Sportsworldghana.com.

The midfielder refused to reach an agreement with Asante Kotoko after his three-year deal expired at the end of the just-ended season. The Kigali-based club has given Lamptey an impressive offer which is better than Asante Kotoko’s, per multiple reports.

Lamptey made 17 appearances for Asante Kotoko in the 2023-24 season. His new team APR FC are the champions of Rwanda and he is expected to help them reach the money zone of the 2024-25 CAF Champions League as it will be the first time in their history.
